Meet Danielle! As a member of our product brand group, she manages the development of products catered to our facility customers. With over 15 years in the field, she’s launched new products in categories ranging from personal care to food science and paper material science. This experience within a variety of industries empowers Danielle to bring a unique perspective to the Staples product team.
I connected with Danielle to get the scoop on what it’s like to be a part of her team and why she loves working in product development. Here’s what she had to say:
What do you love about your role?
As a manager of product development, I love how my role allows me to partner cross-functionally, creating a community for me to live within. It’s perfect for me because I am extremely collaborative, approachable, and love to partner with different areas of the business. I also find it crucial to challenge myself; to be bold and brave when necessary. I am not afraid to make mistakes and learn from them.
Tell us about a favorite initiative/project you have worked on at Staples?
When I started, I hit the ground running. I brought in my first new vendor within two months. Our facial tissue program for both retail and commercial was not only the first project I owned, it was my first exposure to the development process here. I learned both about the process and the importance of developing new strategic business partnerships. Through these partnerships, we were able to produce amazing facial tissue products for both Perk and Coastwide Professional. The work wasn’t “easy breezy sneezy,” but it has been a huge success.
Why should someone join our product brand group?
This team is all about respect and valuing each other’s opinions. As a group, we learn together as we go, addressing gaps and issues when we find them, and push one another to build excellent WorkLife Brands.
What’s your favorite aspect of #StaplesLife?
Staples realizes the need for worklife flexibility. The company practices lessons learned and focuses on the tools supporting how people work today. Another aspect I love here is how the company encompasses inclusion and diversity. For example, we have several employee-led business resources groups focused specifically on this matter.
A strong Worklife isn’t all about work. What do you like to do outside of the office?
I’m pretty active. I love to hike as well as play, and watch, sports. I also enjoy baking and traveling as much as time permits.
Our product team is focused on identifying and designing the right products for our customers and their evolving work lives. Work is happening in new and different ways – at home, on the road, in the air or on the ground – which is why it’s important we continue to develop and share products with a purpose.
